The Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) has released new projections as part of its Knocking at the College Door series. The new supplement projects the number of high school graduates through 2027-28 for the 25 most heavily populated metropolitan areas in the country. These projections can help those trying to bring adults back to complete postsecondary credentials by helping policymakers and education leaders understand the state of the "traditional" education pipeline in years to come.

Project Win-Win, a large-scale effort to identify former students of associate’s degree granting that earned enough credits for a degree but never received one, has completed its work, resulting in 4,550 individuals receiving degrees. The Institute for Higher Education Policy has released a final report on the project that details the results at 61 institutions in 9 states and offers numerous recommendations for policy and practice for those seeking to duplicate the strategy elsewhere.

The University of Wisconsin System is preparing to launch it's competency-based degree program, known as the "Flex Option." The program will provide new degree pathways to adults who have significant prior college credit based. The full interview is available on the NPR website.

Lumina Foundation recently released the fourth annual edition of A Stronger Nation through Higher Education, describing higher education attainment in the United States. Lumina’s goal for higher education, referred to as Goal 2025, strives to increase the proportion of Americans who hold a postsecondary degree or postsecondary certificate of value to 60 percent by the year 2025. According to these most recent projections, the country is not going to reach Goal 2025 unless there is significant progress in increasing the rate at which postsecondary systems produce degrees and  certificates.
